JP Kennels Health Guarantee & Nutritional Requirements

Acknowledgement and Agreement: By signing this contract, you, the Buyer, acknowledge and agree that your health guarantee is contingent upon the option you select. Please read the following terms carefully before making your decision.

Your puppy is guaranteed to be virus-free for three business days from the date it is received. While we make every effort to prevent health issues, parasites such as coccidian and giardia are common in young puppies and treatable. These are excluded from this guarantee. A visit with your veterinarian within 3 business days of receiving your puppy, including a fecal exam, is recommended to confirm health and establish care. If parasites are found, treatment is the Buyer’s responsibility.

Genetic Health Guarantee:
Your puppy is guaranteed to be free from the following genetic diseases through parentage: CNM, Copper Toxicosis, Cystinuria, DM, Elliptocytosis, EIC, Hereditary Nasal Parakeratosis, Hyperuricosuria, Myotubular Myopathy 1, Progressive Retinal Atrophy (Cone Rod Dystrophy 4, Golden Retriever 2, PRA/PRCD), Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency, Retinal Dysplasia/Oculoskeletal Dysplasia 1, and Skeletal Dysplasia 2. You will receive copies of parents' clearances including OFA results and any individual testing on your puppy.

Veterinary Care Record:
Your puppy will have had its first vaccine and necessary deworming as recommended by our veterinarian at Winfield Veterinary Hospital (620.221.9505). These will be recorded on the health record provided at pickup.

Definition of Good Health: Free from serious illness or genetic defects that will shorten the dog’s life.

Should Your Puppy Not Be in Good Health:
At the Buyer's discretion, the puppy may be returned to JP Kennels and either replaced with a comparable puppy or refunded up to the original purchase price. Additional costs such as shipping, taxes, or medical expenses will not be refunded.

Exclusions:
This guarantee does not cover mistreatment, accidents, poisoning, injuries, environmental or trauma-related issues, or over-exercising during the 24-month growth period. The guarantee becomes void if the puppy is bred before two years of age or if not owned by the original purchaser.

Terms of Initial Health Guarantee:

• A licensed veterinarian must examine the puppy within 72 hours (3 business days) of adoption.
• Buyer must notify JP Kennels of a serious illness/genetic defect within 72 hours.
• Puppy must be returned to JP Kennels within 10 days of notification at Buyer’s expense.
• JP Kennels may request a second opinion from its own licensed veterinarian. In case of discrepancies, JP Kennels' veterinary findings shall control.

Non-Covered Conditions Include (but are not limited to): Umbilical hernia, external/internal parasites, bacteria, coccidiosis, giardia, undescended testicles, inverted vulva, cataracts, underbite or overbite. Personality or disposition are not guaranteed but we prioritize early socialization.

Failure to meet these terms voids Option I Guarantee.

Nutritional Requirements:
While JP Kennels strives to breed genetically sound Labrador Retrievers, nutrition is critical. Most commercial dog foods do not meet full nutritional needs. To activate Option II or III, you must comply with the feeding requirements outlined in the following sections.

Hip Guarantee:
We follow OFA guidelines for evaluation and grading of hip dysplasia. Your puppy is guaranteed against hereditary severe hip dysplasia for 24 months. If diagnosed, you may choose to receive a replacement puppy or refund (limited to purchase price). Additional costs are not covered.

Conditions:

• Puppy must not be obese or suffer trauma.
• Avoid strenuous activity (agility, field training) before 18 months of age.
• OFA hip evaluation must be completed at 24 months.
• Copies of veterinarian and OFA findings must be provided within 10 days of diagnosis.
• Puppy must not have sired/whelped a litter prior to hip testing.
• Failure to complete OFA evaluation voids the hip guarantee.

Genetic/Hereditary Health Guarantee:
Guaranteed against life-threatening genetic/hereditary conditions for 24 months. If puppy dies or suffers due to such a condition, a replacement or refund (limited to purchase price) will be offered.

Conditions:

• Veterinarian must determine cause of death or illness is genetic/hereditary.
• Buyer must notify JP Kennels within 72 hours of diagnosis or death.
• All vet records must be sent to JP Kennels' veterinarian.
• In case of disagreement, JP Kennels' veterinary opinion controls.

Nutritional Requirements for Option II:To qualify, you MUST feed your puppy either:

• Life’s Abundance Kibble, OR
• A different food with NuVet Plus and Nujoint DS supplements.

Failure to meet these terms voids Option II Guarantee.

This option extends all coverage from Options I and II to 48 months.

Requirements:
You must feed your puppy both:

• Life’s Abundance Kibble, AND
• NuVet Plus and Nujoint DS supplements.

This is the same combination we use at JP Kennels and highly recommend.

Failure to meet these terms voids Option III Guarantee.

To ensure continuity in diet and best health outcomes, you are required to order a bag of Life’s Abundance Large Breed Puppy Food before your puppy arrives. This prevents a lapse in nutrition. Use auto-ship to save 10-15% and ensure timely delivery.

In the unfortunate event that you can no longer keep your dog; we ask that you contact JP Kennels so that we can rehome the dog for you. Do not send our puppies to a shelter under any circumstances. Please call us first.
